The youngest of three children, Jonathan was born
in New York and has been intrigued by magic since seeing his first magic show at age
seven. Within a year, he'd convinced his parents to sign him up for a weekly magic class
and then a summer camp for magicians where he could watch professionals in action and
learn the tricks of the trade. He attended the camp for six years.
Even while learning his range of skills, Jonathan
began earning money from his magic. As a grade school student, he performed for private
engagements and shows for corporations. He used these earnings to pay for private magic
coaching from a world champion magician. After high school, Jonathan went to college to
study theater, dance and design. In his free time, he studied at the American Mime School
in New York City. Jonathan always loved science fiction and his
dream was to incorporate futuristic fantasies into an illusion show. This would require
specially designed costumes and equipment to support carefully chosen themes. His
first such act was one he created in which his only magic prop was a
TV screen. He would interact with the front of the screen and appear to actually remove
objects from it. This act won him the IBM Award of Merit.
Soon after, he was invited to Brussels to perform the act on European
Television. Jonathan continued to expand his repertoire. He chose a
talented female assistant with extensive acting and dance training.
She would play a variety of characters in his illusion vignettes.
In the process of expanding his show, Jonathan earned numerous awards,
including IBM 1st place Champion and the Grand Prize,
Crystal Mandrake, in Paris. Today,
Jonathan performs a full evening show filled with original high-tech
illusions. His futuristic urban style is like no other. A
year-round regular at Caesar's Palace, Las Vegas, Jonathan performed
in casino's, cabarets, and on numerous television shows in countries
that span five continents, including Spain, Monaco, Germany, Brazil,
Africa, Japan and France. He was featured on NBC's
special "World's Greatest Magic" |
